We were alerted by an HR manager that when applying for a role, applicants we're given a 7 day time out alert to complete their application, even when the closing date is far later than 7 days away. I flagged this with a support agent who confirmed this was true to functionality and extended the time out to 100 days to ensure candidates had optimum time to complete their application before the closing date.
The choice to make the was 100 days, simply because the support agent advised this was the maximum. The best case scenario to avoid any future confusion and make the process as clear as possible would be to have the ability to turn off this feature entirely.
No other jobs boards have a time out functionality (indeed, monster, totaljobs etc) and applicants have freely edit their application up until closing day. This is how we would ideally like it to work in A Recruit
